Dr. Dave Duffus
Dr. Duffus founded the Whale Research Lab in the early 1990s, and has continued to study whale ecology, particularly gray whales, on the west coast of Vancouver Island since.

Dr. Rianna Burnham
Rianna her doctoral work at the University of Victoria using ocean gliders with passive and active acoustic technology and passive acoustic recorders to map the presence of whales on the west coast of BC. This, tied with ecological data, will lead to mitigation measures to avoid ship-strike and negative whale-vessel interactions. She now works with the lab as an Ajunct Assistant Professor, instructing several undergraduate courses in the Geography Department and co-supervises graduate students.

Roanan DeMeyer
Roanan joins the Whale Lab to complete a Masters looking at gray whale movements and habitat use in British Columbia.
Lynn Rannankari
Lynn continues her work with the lab following the completion of her Honours. Her research focuses on the use of acoustics of fin whales when on migration and in foraging areas, primarily the utility and ecology of calling. Her particular interest is that of call patterns.
Jesslynn Doucette
Jess joined the lab as a Juniour Research Assistant and has been with us in the field and spent many hours under the headphones, adding to the lab's killer whale and fin whale work.
